Dimos FZCO Delivers Ongoing Technical Expertise for Dubai Flower Centre’s Automated Systems

From installation to 24/7 maintenance, Dimos FZCO ensures seamless operation of advanced logistics and automation at the Dubai Flower Centre.

The Dubai Flower Centre (DFC) was planned to be the world's first air freight terminal specializing in the transfer of cut flowers due to its ideal geographic location at the intersection of major grower and consumer countries in Asia, Africa, and Europe. The facility requires high-tech systems to maintain the required temperature range of 2 to 12°C to meet the needs of the sensitive product. The 10,000 m² building complex includes a 20 m high bay warehouse, where two elevating transfer vehicles place aluminum containers (ULD) weighing up to 6.8 tons into shelves. Automated transfer vehicles and roller conveyors transport the containers to 21 workstations, coordinated by an inventory control system.

Project Highlights and Dimos FZCO's Role

The Dubai Flower Centre is a cutting-edge air freight terminal dedicated to the handling of cut flowers, designed with sophisticated automation and climate control to ensure the highest product quality. The facility features an automatic ULD warehouse equipped with two elevating transfer vehicles (ETVs), 258 storage spaces for 20-foot ULDs, and a quadruple deep storage configuration. It maintains three distinct temperature zones to cater to the specific needs of different flower types. Supporting this system are four automatic transfer vehicles, two vacuum cooling shelves, and 21 workstations that streamline processing. The center is also equipped with two x-ray stations for security, 15 airlocks for environmental control, and 10 hermetically sealed bays, allowing it to handle up to 180,000 tons of freight annually. The project was completed in 2006.

Dimos FZCO played a crucial role in the success of the Dubai Flower Centre by providing on-site technical support during the installation and commissioning phases. Since the project’s completion, the company has been responsible for 24/7 maintenance of all electrical and mechanical components, as well as IT systems. In addition, Dimos continues to assist with the operation of the Elevating Transfer Vehicles, ensuring the facility runs smoothly. This long-term partnership showcases Dimos FZCO’s expertise and commitment to supporting complex automated logistics solutions.

Dimos FZCO Ensures Long-Term Success of Dubai Flower Centre’s Automated Systems Through Expert Support and Maintenance

Dimos FZCO assisted the contractor M/s Unitechnik during the construction of the project with its local technical team during the installation and commissioning of the automated ULD warehouse and other system components. 
After the project's completion in 2006, Dimos FZCO was awarded a maintenance contract to provide 24/7 services for all electrical and mechanical parts of the system, along with IT support as required. Additionally, Dimos FZCO supports the client with the operation of the Elevating Transfer Vehicles. 
As a result, Dimos FZCO is responsible for ensuring that the automated systems operate smoothly and providing technical support for their operation. This demonstrates the company's expertise in providing comprehensive support services for complicated automation projects, and this responsibility continues to this day.
